Lash glue · 5 min read
If your glue behaved perfectly last week and suddenly won't, the bottle probably isn't the problem. Your room is. Lash adhesive cures by reacting with moisture in the air, so humidity decides how fast it sets and how strong the bond ends up. Match the glue to the room and retention follows.
How humidity changes lash glue
Lash glue is cyanoacrylate, and it needs water vapour to cure. That's why the same glue can feel like two different products in July and January.
- Too humid: the glue cures too fast, sometimes before the extension is placed. The bond can turn brittle or white ("blooming"), and extensions pop off within a week or two.
- Too dry: the glue cures too slowly. You get stickies, fumes hang around longer, and clients' eyes water. Bonds that never fully cured fall out early.
- Changing: in the UK, summer studios run humid, and central heating dries rooms out from autumn. Your glue may need to change with the seasons.
Step one: measure your room
Guessing doesn't work. A hygrometer costs a few pounds and tells you the humidity and temperature at your lash bed. Keep it at the height you work, not on a windowsill, and check it before each client.
Which Lash Heaven glue suits your room?
| Adhesive | Cure | Humidity | Temperature | Retention* | Reach for it when… |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pearl Black | 1–3 sec | 50–70% | 20–28°C | up to 7 weeks | Your room is warm and humid, or you're newer to volume |
| Fierce Black | 0.5–1 sec | 45–65% (works 30–80%) | 20–25°C | up to 5 weeks | Humidity swings and you can't control the room |
| Fierce Clear | 1–2 sec | 45–65% (works 30–80%) | — | up to 6–7 weeks | Coloured or brown lashes in an unpredictable room |
| Intense Black | 1–2 sec | 40–60% | 19–23°C | up to 6–7 weeks | Your room is cooler and drier, or clients are sensitive to fumes |
*Retention based on correct use and aftercare.
So what's the best lash glue for humid weather? For a consistently humid studio, Pearl Black: it's built for 50–70% humidity and gives you the longest hold we make. If humidity jumps around from day to day, Fierce Black or Fierce Clear, which keep curing from 30% right up to 80%. Many artists keep both on the desk; the Fierce Black + Pearl Black bundle saves £7.
Seven habits that protect your bond in humid weather
- Change your glue drop often. Every 15–20 minutes, and more often when it's humid. A drop that's starting to skin over gives a weak bond.
- Shake the bottle well before every new drop.
- Let a cold bottle reach room temperature before you open it, or condensation gets inside.
- Store it airtight. Keep opened glue in an airtight container with a silica sachet, away from heat and light.
- Wipe and recap the nozzle straight after dispensing.
- Prep properly. Oil is one of the leading causes of poor retention; Jasmine Primer cleans and primes the natural lash before every set.
- Seal the set. Superbonder Fixation cures the adhesive from within, reducing fumes and strengthening the bond.
A dehumidifier (for a humid room) or a humidifier (for a dry one) gives you even more control, especially in a small treatment room.
Still losing lashes early?
If the glue suits your room and extensions still fall out, look at the rest of the picture:
- Glue opened more than two months ago.
- Natural lashes not cleaned and primed.
- Extensions too heavy or long for the natural lash.
- Clients getting lashes wet in the first 24 hours, using oil-based products or sleeping face-down.
- The natural lash cycle: losing a few lashes a day is normal shedding, not a retention problem.
